My love of decorating stems back to my childhood; I was always rearranging my bedroom and painting my walls. It should have been my sign that interior design was my calling.
Instead, I pursued a career in nursing. It was a logical fit at the time, as I have a passion for caring for people. My husband, Rob, and I lived in Philadelphia for four years while he was in dental school and I worked at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Life was perfect.
We moved back to Sarnia to start our family. After the birth of our first babe, I left my career to raise our family. I always thought that being a stay-at-home mom would be enough, but after our youngest started school, I felt a yearning for more. What started out as helping a friend decorate their home quickly led to full-scale decorating projects. I had found my calling.
It wasn’t until my first (and biggest!) project, designing our dream home, did I decide to go back to school to pursue interior design, while using our own home build as a learning platform. I created a home Instagram account, Casa Blackwell, documenting the process, the highs, and the lows.
I graduated from Yorkville University in Interior Decorating and started my own design studio in 2022. My mission is to help others create their dream spaces, but without the stress and overwhelm, knowing I will be there to guide them through the process.
The Jen Sottosanti Design team is based in Sarnia, Ontario serving clients throughout Southern Ontario and beyond.

The best time to hire a designer is in advance of your builder starting your project - this way, your designer can have the design completed prior to your builder starting the project. The benefit of having your design done in advance of construction is that you can expedite your building process - there are no rush decisions or delay on materials, saving you time, money, and stress. When the design and selections are completed in advance, it becomes stress-free as we can communicate schedules and timelines with your builder and trades.
Already started your build process? No problem. If you’ve already started their build process, reach out to a designer before the drawings are completed - this way, your designer can make modifications to your design before your builder orders materials!
While it is greatly dependent on the scope of work, it typically takes our team 8 - 10 weeks to develop a design concept for smaller projects and up to 3 - 4 months for larger projects.
Implementation is an integral part of the design process and does not stop after materials are sourced, selected, and ordered. Based on past experience, clients who stopped after the design phase realized the value of having the designer work with the trades to ensure proper installation and placement of fixtures and materials, ensuring the overall design aesthetic and saving you undue stress and costly errors.
We certainly will! We’ve worked with clients all over Southern Ontario. If you’re located outside of Lambton County, travel fees may apply. Please contact for details.
Picture this. You’re living an episode of Dream Home Makeover. You walk into your home and your entire project has been completed, from the flooring and cabinetry install all the way through to perfectly fluffed accent pillows atop of a perfectly placed sofa. But in this scenario, you’re standing beside me, not Shea McGee.
Your design implementation makes the entire project stress-free for you - we manage your General Contractor and trades, deal with your suppliers, field all of the questions and inquiries, and make sure the entire project stays on schedule. Even if we have to light a few fires along the way.
